Vic: Homicide squad to probe NYE eve deaths

MELBOURNE, Jan 1 AAP - The homicide squad and the Victorian coroner will investigatethe hanging death of a man in the back of a police van on New Year's Eve in the coastaltown of Cowes.
The death came amid wild celebrations at Cowes, on Phillip Island, during which threepolice were injured in brawls while trying to contain drunks.
One had a broken hand and two others minor injuries.
