QLD:Qld govt facing questions over IT project

The Queensland opposition says the state government's latest IT bungle has the potential
to be as disastrous as the health payroll debacle.

The Bligh government is facing new questions about its handling of IT projects after
reports some government departments have rejected a new in-house email system that's cost
taxpayers 46 million dollars.

The Courier-Mail says only two-thousand have signed up to use the system, which requires
81-thousand users to break even.

The Liberal National Party's spokeswoman for Information and Communication Technology
ROS BATES says there must be an audit of all IT projects and says the government must
come clean about the cost of this bungle and its budget position before the election,
due in March.
