FED:Qantas achieves positions cuts with only 600 forced out

Qantas says only 600 staffers have been forced to take compulsory redundancy as partof a plan to cut staff positions at the airline.

The airline last November projected that as a result of the downturn in the aviationmarket, up to 2,000 staff positions would be lost at the airline.

But Qantas chief executive GEOFF DIXON has today said a reduction in positions hasbeen achieved, with only 600 people taking redundancy.
