Soft: Aussies getting better, but best not good enough

Australia's best softball performance in nearly 40 years still wasn't enough to stop
America's new Dream Team at the Olympics.

Australia ended up with the silver medal after being defeated 5-1 by red-hot favourite
the United States in the gold medal match.

Despite a huge effort to get that far, the United States still managed its 79th consecutive
international victory.

The US scored 51 runs throughout its Olympic campaign and conceded only one -- to Australia.
